Rumours, gossip, threats, insults, cruelty—these things don’t only happen face-to-face.

Bullying and harassment can take place through text messaging, Facebook, YouTube, rating sites, email, blogs and other communications media. We use the term ‘cyberbullying’ to describe this kind of behaviour. Other people might call it ‘harassment,’ ‘abuse,’ ‘meanness’ or just plain ‘bullying’. Whatever you choose to call it, bullying that happens online is a serious problem that many teens are dealing with.

In this section, you will learn more about cyberbullying, what to do if it happens to you, how to stop doing it, and what to do if you are a bystander. You’ll also get links to other helpful resources.
