These are completely wonderful questions. I'm just so glad you feel comfy writing in to ask! 1. Vaginal discharge is not a period although a period is vaginal discharge. Vaginal discharge is anything that comes from the reproductive system that comes out of the vagina on its own. So a period is one type of vaginal discharge, but it's pretty special so it has its own name. Other vaginal discharge is just he fluid that is made naturally by the vagina to keep it clean. It also provides lubrication for sexual intercourse. 2. PMS stands for pre-menstrual syndrome. So a set of symptoms that happens right before a period. Only SOME females have to deal with this syndrome. It usually consists of feeling a little crampy, bloated and grumpy just before the period starts. For some women it is severe and they get medical help to deal with it. Other use meditation or relaxation techniques as well as good nutrition to lessen the symptoms. Others (most women) don't have these symptoms... and even some women feel extra creative and full of energy during their periods. I guess every female is different! 3. The thick translucent liquid that comes out of the vagina is vaginal discharge (see #1) and it is totally normal. In fact, it's a good sign that when a girl starts to get this discharge that her first period is coming in either a few months or a year or so. Most women get this fluid and notice it on the inside of their underwear at night when they change. No biggie. It's just a sign that the vagina and rest of the genital region is starting to work. I hope that answers everything Take care and let us know if you have any more questions!
