A mom’s perspective
Sometimes, kids feel more comfortable talking to someone they don’t know. After Dunia’s daughter reached out for help, Dunia saw how important that support is for kids who are struggling. Today, she’s a proud donor.
Like any parent, I hope my kids come to me whenever they need help. I try to be supportive through their ups and downs.
So when my daughter shared recently that she’d turned to Kids Help Phone years ago, I have to admit I felt a pang of sadness. I wondered why she had reached out for help somewhere else.
Immediately, another feeling took over: gratitude.
I realized what a gift it was to have such a vital service in place. I was thankful that my daughter knew Kids Help Phone existed. And I’ve always been extremely grateful that it’s available free of charge.
As parents, it’s so reassuring to know our kids have someone to talk to when they don’t feel like they can come to us. We love our kids, but we can’t be everything to them — and Kids Help Phone can fill in some of those gaps.
That’s why I’m thrilled to give to Kids Help Phone. You never know when a young person you love will need it. But together, we can continue to offer an important service to our youth.
