Wellness modules
Join a Kids Help Phone Indigenous Wellness Specialist and Notorious Cree as they teach participants all about managing anxiety.
Notorious Cree, a renowned traditional hoop dance artist, will open the session by sharing his personal experience with anxiety. Then, using fun and engaging activities, our Indigenous Wellness Specialist will teach participants about different types of anxiety, and guide them through ways to cope. After the session, we’ll send participants a pair of binoculars as a gift!
Module objectives:
destigmatize anxiety
increase understanding of anxiety and its common forms
provide young people with the skills, tools and resources to manage stress and anxiety
convey strategies for young people to help other people in their lives who are experiencing high levels of stress or anxiety
guide young people to additional resources that can assist them with anxiety-related questions and concerns
Learn about abuse and safety from a Kids Help Phone Indigenous Wellness Specialist. Actress and poet Mary Black will open the session in a pre-recorded video by sharing a poem and reflecting on her own experience with abuse. Then, a Kids Help Phone Indigenous Wellness Specialist will engage participants in activities and discussion about abuse and safety. They’ll emphasize that if a young person is living with abuse, they’re not alone, and help is available. We’ll also send participants KHP outreach material and a night light, as a gift!
Module objectives:
help young people understand what abuse is
help young people recognize when they or other youth may be experiencing abuse
outline actions young people who are experiencing abuse can take to help increase their safety
provide strategies that may help create safer spaces
help young people develop confidence in reaching out for support from trusted organizations
