Event overview

The 17th annual Kids Help Phone Homes for the Holidays presented by Nicola Wealth event will help inspire your festive spirit and make the holiday season memorable!

This year’s tour will once again be virtual and will be taking place from Saturday, November 20 to Sunday, December 5, 2021. During this event, professional interior designers team up with home décor retailers and florists to set the stage for the season’s festivities. Five luxurious homes in Whistler and Greater Vancouver will be featured — all with unique displays of holiday decorating — with five designers sharing new tips and tricks on how to prepare your home for the holidays.

Virtual tour attendees can explore these festive homes and get to know the designers via pre-recorded video while supporting youth mental health and well-being across Canada. Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support in English and French to young people. Funds raised through Homes for the Holidays help us continue to give youth a safe, trusted space to talk in any moment of crisis or need.

Please join us at Kids Help Phone’s 17th annual Homes for the Holidays virtual tour presented by Nicola Wealth! Building on the successful pivot to a virtual event last year, we’re thrilled to be back and to showcase homes in Greater Vancouver and Whistler with viewers across Canada.

Watch as our hosts Todd and Rabecca Talbot guide us through a tour of five beautifully decorated homes for the holidays. Each designer will take us on a transformational journey through their creative process to their grand reveal. Our designers will display their unique tastes and flair as well as share tips you could use in your home.

Our auction will be live in November to help with your holiday shopping (or treats for yourself!). This year, we’re also asking you to pick your favourite home on the tour. (The most popular choice will be featured in our Homes for the Holidays magazine next year.)

For tickets and more information, you can visit HomesForTheHolidays.ca.

Thank you for supporting youth mental health and well-being in British Columbia and across Canada!

A photo of Asha HayerAsha Hayer
Asha Hayer of Asha Michelle Design has been involved in interior design and fashion from a very young age.  Having formally trained in Alberta, she brings her flair for a beautiful aesthetic wherever she goes.  A wife and mother of two, Asha has created a home and work life balance.  At times, her girls tag along and watch mommy in action. She is a great role model; she has a keen eye for detail and can make anything look fabulous. Her projects are always spoken highly of, and she leaves her clients in awe of her work.  She can see what others can’t and creates beautiful masterpieces in all of the homes she designs.  Asha has a passion for interior design that far exceeds what others see as a job.

A photo of Colette SorosColette Soros
Colette Soros has an established presence in the Vancouver design community.  She started her design career in the 1990s and currently co-owns Parliament Interiors, a retail and design store.

Colette’s work has been featured in a variety of publications including House and Home, Rue, Style at Home, and Daily Hive.  In 2018 her home was 1st runner up in the acclaimed House and Home magazine’s “Home of the Year”.

Colette’s design philosophy is simple.  It’s about creating a warm, relaxed and comfortable space.  Inspired by her Nordic roots, Colette’s aesthetic is clean and natural, with an emphasis on functionality and beauty.  Her spaces demonstrate a harmonious balance between continuity and contrast.  She loves the challenge of working with small spaces and applying her clever design techniques to make rooms visually expand.  Colette is a firm believer that good design evokes happiness and improves one’s over-all quality of life.

Colette currently lives with her family in East Vancouver in a Scandinavian in-spired home she designed.

A photo of Denise AshmoreDenise Ashmore
Denise graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Art in Interior Design and began her career designing retail spaces in Toronto. Her love for travel and desire to work overseas led her to Sydney, Australia. Here she contributed to large-scale retail and public space developments built during the run-up to the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Moving back to Canada, her new love for coastal living helped establish her career in Vancouver where her projects won multiple awards.

In 2002 Denise made the shift to residential design by joining Ledingham Design Consultants and eight years later she launched her own design studio – project22design Inc. – focusing on single family residential and hospitality projects. A long-time member of IDIBC, Denise has served on the board as Communication Director as well as BC Director of IDC. She is passionate about growing her profession and is always happy to talk with young designers. Her work has been published in Western Living, Condo, Canadian House and Home, Homes and Living Magazine and Style at Home. Denise was the winner of Western Living’s Designer of the Year in 2017 and is a past participant of Homes for the Holidays.

Joanna is the founder and principle designer of JV Design Group, a Vancouver-based interior design studio. Since 2013, the JV design team has been making spaces work better, look better and feel better by paying close attention to detail and focusing on customer relationships and client-centered creativity.  Vancouver born and raised, Joanna studied interior design at BCIT, led The Cross Interior Design department for several years, and is a LEED-certified professional designer.  Joanna’s work often graces the pages of interior design magazines such as Gray and Style at Home. Her diverse range of residential and commercial clients can count on her to excel in key areas of human and environmental health and sustainability. Her design approach is straightforward and accessible.

Simply put, Joanna’s mantra is “Your space reflects you – mindfully implementing design elements evokes positive emotional feelings and encourages calm, peace, and happiness.”

With over 20 years experience in the design industry, Vancouver interior designer Negar Reihani is celebrated for her timeless style and her elegant simple approach to creating high-end and polished interiors. As you browse through her portfolio you will notice that her designs evoke a broad range of sensibilities and that her works distinctively reflect the tastes and lifestyle of her clients. Here are how her clients describe her: “passionate about design yet flexible”, “unpretentious and approachable”, “organized and reliable”, “focused and committed”, “patient and kind”, “knowledgeable and detail-oriented”, “positive and a trouble-shooter”.

Negar truly values customer service and makes her clients feel taken care of. Their repeated business is a true testament to her work. When she takes on a new project, she’s focused on the client’s vision and the best way to incorporate it into the design. She’s always passionate about the project regardless of the size and scope and cherishes the possibility of creating spaces that reflect her client’s style whether it’s west coast contemporary, modern, transitional or traditional.

A photo of Stephanie GiesbrechtStephanie Giesbrecht
Surrounded by custom home craftsmanship from a young age, Stephanie’s natural talent and eye for design led family members and friends to enlist her help for home design projects.  These opportunities, along with her work at a full-service firm, allowed Stephanie to gain extensive experience in both commercial and residential design.

Stephanie’s fresh take on classic, timeless style has garnered national attention from a variety of publications including Style at Home, Glitter Guide, and Rue.  Her design aesthetic is easily recognized by its fresh, clean, bright interiors that are as inviting as they are beautiful.

At Stephanie Jean Design, creating comfortable, welcoming spaces is equally important as cultivating positive relationships with our clients.  Stephanie is passionate about making sure the design process is personal and comfortable, one where clients’ tastes and preferences are embraced to create an environment that fits their needs.  A place they find beauty in every day.
