Supporting youth in Canada
A message from Katherine Hay, President & CEO and Alisa Simon, Executive Vice President, Chief Youth & Innovation Officer of Kids Help Phone.
At Kids Help Phone, we have been working with youth across Canada for more than 30 years; what they share with us has always been and will always be confidential and / or anonymous. Their privacy, security and safety is our top priority. Any data we have is non-identifiable, aggregate, scrubbed and stored in Canada.
With regards to Crisis Text Line, they are one of our technology vendors and the technology platform is used only in Canada by Canadian staff and crisis responders residing in Canada. All Canadian data is scrubbed of all identifying information and is stored at AWS in Canada. This data is only used for service improvements and to provide insights into the needs of young people to inform all existing and potentially new Kids Help Phone programs.
Crisis Text Line has re-confirmed that NO Canadian data was shared externally in any way. Our data is separate and apart from US data, and is held in Canada.
Kids Help Phone is on the frontlines for youth and their mental health 24/7, and needed now more than ever. We have supported the young people across Canada more than 9.6M times since the beginning of COVID-19, our texting platform more than 400K times. Young people trust us; Kids Help Phone is there for them in any moment of need through multiple service programs. We save lives every single day and ensure youth have a voice at the leadership table where decisions are made that impact their lives.
We thank you for your continued support of Kids Help Phone as our commitment to youth and their privacy, security and safety will not waver.
Katherine Hay and Alisa Simon
