The challenges facing young people in Canada have grown more complex, and youth need access to the supports that are most relevant to them. To achieve our vision, it’s critical that we meet these challenges — and quickly.
Our vision
A future where every young person in Canada will access the support they need, in the way they need it most.
Our mission
We are always open, providing a safe and trusted place for young people in any moment of crisis or need.
Our values
We are, and believe in being: courageous, collaborative, innovative, resilient and trustworthy
Our strategic objectives
Maximizing Access
For almost three decades, young people have been reaching out to Kids Help Phone for the support they need – but for every person we’ve been able to help, others have been unable to access our services.
That’s why we are driven to remove and reduce barriers to access and support, and to create vital, innovative, and relevant new service offerings.
Achieving Resilience
Achieving our goals for improving both our services and the ability of young people to access them will require Kids Help Phone to fully achieve its goals of establishing stable and reliable funding streams and being efficient yet also nimble, flexible, and responsive.
Demonstrating Impact
With our unique and multi-decade experience in connecting directly with youth, Kids Help Phone has the responsibility to play a major role in assisting policy makers and the research community, both in Canada and globally, in their search for insights and answers about youth mental health and well-being.
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility Strategy & Action Plan
We have a role to play in effecting social change and advancing equity; and this is why the practice of IDEA is critical to us.
At Kids Help Phone, we have a long history of advancing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) through our tailored programs, services, policies, initiatives and task forces — with contributions and leadership from teams across the organization. We will not waver on these commitments and will continue leading the way in making our workplace, and the world that young people live in more inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible.
As a culmination of past and ongoing advocacy, effort, compassion and momentum from each and every one of our colleagues and partners, we’re proud to introduce our IDEA 2023–2027 Strategy and Action Plan.
Our Indigenous Initiatives
Indigenous peoples continue to experience intergenerational trauma from the ongoing effects of colonization. As a national charity, Kids Help Phone knows that more can and should be done to support Indigenous young people. We believe that our services can bridge the gap for many Indigenous young people in need of mental, emotional and spiritual well-being support, particularly when other options are not available.
Under the leadership of our Indigenous Advisory Council, we’ve developed Finding Hope: Kids Help Phone’s Action Plan for Supporting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Young People. Please join us by donating, learning more and supporting our commitment to Indigenous children and youth.
Our Black Youth Initiatives
We know that systems have often failed Black communities. Kids Help Phone is dedicated to understanding and addressing the structural barriers young Black people face when they connect for mental health and wellness support. RiseUp powered by Kids Help Phone is proud to provide dedicated support to youth of the Afro-diaspora that focus on the needs of African, Caribbean and Black Youth in Canada now and into the future.
In collaboration with the Black Advisory Council at KHP and through the generous support of donors and partners, we’ve developed RiseUp: Kids Help Phone’s Action Plan for Supporting Black Youth. Please join us by donating, learning more and supporting our commitment to Black Youth.
Our Newcomer Youth Initiatives
Over the last two years, Kids Help Phone has seen a significant increase in newcomer-identifying service users that continues to grow. With projected immigration levels expected to rise significantly over the coming years and newcomers from various countries feeling impacted by the many world crises, it is now more important than ever for newcomers to have access to the support they need, in ways that they need it most.
Built on recommendations from newcomer youth and communities, we’ve developed New Journeys: Kids Help Phone’s Mental Health Action Plan for Newcomers to Canada. Please join us by donating, learning more and supporting our commitment to newcomer youth.
