“Are You Out There?”
February 26, 2025

Are you out there?

We see the same night sky,
We breathe the same air.
Do I look like her?
Do we have the same hair?
I want to meet you,
You’re my sister.

Are you out there?

Do you know about me?
Do you hate me?
I was told about you only yesterday.
I wanna find you.
If I did, would it be awkward and grey?
Or would we be happy?
There’s so many things I want to say.
I want to laugh and smile,
To cry, and be sappy.

Are you out there?

I wanna know your favourite movie.
What’s your favourite book to read?
Have you seen me before?
I started writing letters to give to you.
The ones I have hidden in a drawer.

Are you out there?

I don’t know much about you,
I know your name,
And the year you were born.
Nothing more.
It’s hard to wrap my head around,
I’m excited and scared.

Oh sister, are you out there?
