Everyone is just trying to survive,
whatever way that may look like.
Sometimes we forget that,
When we talk in hushed voices,
Sneaking looks at those who wear this fight, this battle, physically.
Aren’t we all just trying to survive?
Fighting demons is what we call it now,
Honestly there is no better way to put it.
Because indeed sometimes the conflict is within,
It’s in an individual fighting themselves.
Like yes I want to be lazy
But I’m also well aware how much that costs.
It costs me time,
Time that never waits for anyone,
Even when I’m in deep waters and need just a bit of a break.
It’s also costly you know,
To work hard, to stay on task and keep going.
It exhausts your energy, and most importantly disheartening to see yourself that desperate…
So when you by pass me on the streets
And notice this unkempt face
Or hear me screaming my name,
Remember that we are all trying to survive and it looks different for each one of us.
