Art has always been a way for me to cope with my feelings and express them as well. Whenever I feel any deep emotions (happy, sad, angry, etc.), I try to make a quick sketch in my sketchbook or journal. it doesn’t need to be perfect, sometimes I let my pencil flow or I will draw the first thing I see. This past summer I had a moment where I was feeling worried, lost, and confused, and decided that I would take a break from my feelings and draw a movie scene from my favourite studio ghibli movie. here is a picture from my journal! by the time I started drawing i became so immersed in it that I forgot what I was worrying about, and ended up making a much more complex drawing 🙂
