Me, the unwelcome stranger in my house

Sometimes when I sit in my room, which is not really mine to claim,
I count up the items that truly belong to me;
Things that I have bought with my own money.

I wonder how many others live like this.

For those wondering, yes it is possible to feel like an unwelcome stranger in your house.
To sit knowing you have always had one foot out of the door; this was supposed to be home.

Yes it is possible to live a life where you question every little thing you are given,
Accepting it as though you were holding it for them
Perpetually waiting for the day you’ll be asked to give it back
Or just to remind yourself so that on the day I leave, I don’t take along what was never sincerely given to me.

But someone said they wish to live lightly.
Letting go of everything they can
Not forming deep attachments to anything:
To live lightly.
Maybe that’s the way to live,
I will try to make peace with it.
