Someday

coffee stains on the pages of my notebooks
and graphite stains on the side of my hands
an oversized sweater wrapped around my shoulders
messy bun falling out into strands around my face
hot peppermint tea steaming in my cold hands
rain falling outside
getting lost in the comfortable silence of thought
paint flecks speckling my jeans
a beat up leather jacket hanging on the back of my chair
classical music and pop songs alternating in my ears
black ink on cream paper spilling words into being
cold hands and rosy cheeks
fairy lights twinkling in the dusk light
morning fog winding its way through the alleyways
cursive letters of secret love in a box in the attic
opening a cedar chest to find your winter pajamas
strands of hair tucked behind my glasses
the ticking watch in a dark room at night
embroidered stars on my pants
museum visits to yearn for a time that was
nighttime talks about life and our future
stolen kisses in the kitchen
smiles and laughs
dancing to frank sinatra in the moonlight
scented candles burning down to the wick
staying silent in a comforting embrace
notebooks and dreams for what could be
the feeling of being with that person who knows you like no one else
just dreams for now
but maybe
someday
