open me up, take a piece of me. everyone does, eat until you’ve grown tired of my taste, watch as I stain your hands, a beautiful crimson under your nails, such a bright red, never to wash away, uneatable you say. throw me away, I’m too sour. watching slowly as your taste changes, you leave me open, rotting, for my heart is a pomegranate.
