Pride 2021: LGBTQ2S+ youth & allies, this is your space!

Every summer, communities across Canada recognize LGBTQ2S+ folks with Pride events and festivities. Here, Kids Help Phone is sharing a space for LGBTQ2S+ youth and allies to get support, learn more and build connections about Pride, sexual orientation, gender identity and more…all year round!

Kids Help Phone is here for LGBTQ2S+ youth from coast to coast to coast 365 days a year. That’s why you can find resources on our website 24/7 about Pride, gender identity, real-life experiences, sexual orientation, discrimination and more. Below, you can check out info, tips, tools and stories we hope offer you support, courage and empowerment. This page aims to be an inclusive space for everyone to be accepted, represented and respected — it’s about honouring our diversity, identities and what makes you special!

Kids Help Phone knows the COVID-19 pandemic has affected lives and events across Canada, including Pride activities. It’s important to follow local health and safety guidelines during the pandemic. But that doesn’t mean we can’t find virtual ways to connect and support LGBTQ2S+ youth and allies! You can visit your community’s website and/or reach out to someone involved with Pride for more information about Pride festivities nearest you. You can also check out other ways to acknowledge the LGBTQ2S+ community during Pride when you can't attend in person.

Important note: Kids Help Phone uses phrases like LGBTQ2S+ youth throughout this piece. Some people may have different preferred language, and that’s OK! You can always use the words, resources and supports that fit best for you.
