I come from roots that learned how to grow
even when the ground was never kind.
My skin holds history,
strength passed down quietly,
like a promise that says
you are not alone.
I am poetry, rhythm, resilience,
beauty that didn’t ask for permission.
I am joy that survived.
Being Black is not something I endure
it’s something I carry with pride,
because I come from people
who made a way out of no way.
